London - Wicked

First of all, ended up not going to Tussaud's. It would've simply taken too much time. XP

But no worries, I'm already planning a long weekend in London in the autumn.

The sky looks very different here and the clouds seem to be lower. I've fallen in love.

This post will probably be mostly pictures and captions as it's already three in the morning and I should already be sleeping. ^^'

So, our first stop after arriving at Embankment was to Baker street; by Tube, of course. And it really wasn't that difficult!

Then, seeing the line at Madame Tussaud's we decided that we can do better things with the day than just stand in line. So, off to the British Museum.

After one and a half hours we left for Covent Garden and did some shopping - I just bought a caricature of myself. XD

From Covent Garden we walked to the Houses of Parliament, through St. James' Park, by Buckingham Palace to Victoria. There we went to see Wicked.

And then back home, to Cambridge, by bus. Now I can only hope everyone got home safely, because the cab driver didn't actually seem that clever. We had quite an adventure. -.- Oh, well, I'll know in the morning when we go to Stratford.

Friday the 13th

Surprisingly, today went as planned... Although I had - note, HAD - to go shopping today.

This is what I bought: (minus the umbrella that I forgot there)

Shoes and wallet from TKMaxx (£15+£14) and bag from TopShop (£28)

There was this guy playing drums on the street. He was brilliant!

The whole day we were planning tomorrow's trip to London. But probably I won't have time to anything but Madame Tussaud's. At he moment that's my priority. By my account it's going to take three or four hours - queue and all.

And at seven we'll go to see Wicked... But I still worry about the tickets - the worry-wart that I am. ^^' At home we'll be at half past one, latest. Yickes!

Anyway, we had another pub night today. This time we went to a pub here in Cherry Hinton - the place is called Robin Hood and Little John and the food was again delicious; I had a jacket potato with prawns and smoked salmon. Lovely.

And the girls had invited Volker (a German guy from our class) and this other guy to join us and we had fun! I've just come home and had a shower. I must soon start sleeping so I can get up early enough tomorrow.

Day 4 - Quietness

From the host family's home. It's lovely in my opinion, I wouldn't mind living in a place like this. No, I don't think I would.

Today started really nicely... I was about an hour late at school, because a bus had gone kaputt in the middle of a roundabout. Very annoying. But school was fun again. The teacher - Phil - is a funny guy, always giving us odd examples of word uses and making us fill his sentences.

Today the Italian guy - Jean-Luc (or something) - gave a short presentation on Italian youth language; he's a linguist. His English is cute, 'cause his accent is so strong.

I came home straight from school, because I wanted to study in peace. I really needed to start reading for the entrance exams. XP

Managed to finish the shorter text.

Today's dinner was delicious. Victoria had made chicken pie, roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding - super yummy, especially the Yorkshire pudding. I'm going to miss the food. Really.

Now I'm going to read some more Sense and Sensibility and go to bed.

The Eagle and e-mail

My MSN Live Hotmail account has been blocked and the thing won't let me do anything about it and is not working anyway!! *insert cussing**calming sigh*
Okay, I'll retry in the morning, maybe they're having some tech problems, anyway. I don't know what to do if won't start working. -.-

Other than that, I've had a lovely day. At school on Dutch guy - Jordi, or something like that - gave a presentation on New York and it was so nice and the guy's so funny and really good in English.

After school we had a little time before the Mid-week Movie, we were supposed to watch Tron: Legacy but the disc didn't run, so we watched The Despicable Me instead. A good film, too, so cute. <3
Anyway, on he wait Laura and I went to the town (again) to find a notebook for me... Well, I didn't find a notebook, but a Benetton umbrella with only six pounds and The King's Speech DVD only ten pounds.

After the film we had agreed to go to The Eagle, and there we went.

It's situated in a hidden corner and really you don't notice it easily.

I had fish and chips - the portion was huge - and lemon tart with delicious ice cream.

Look at the size of that freaking fish!

Yum! I need to learn to make that tart.

We just sat there in the pub - it was packed, by the way - and talked. In English, of course. I've noticed that the longer I speak, the more English I sound. XP
I just got home and I've had a shower, so I'm just now waiting for my hair to dry so I can go to bed.

I wish the hotmail would work tomorrow, I really do. -.-

Noticed that today when we had our walking tour of the Old Centre of Cambridge.

Looks very nice and it was again very warm - and it was only half past eight at the time. XP

We had our first lesson today, but it wasn't anything special. More fun than anything. We just chatted and then did some stupid-easy exercises, but I did have trouble keeping up with the dictation thing.

Then we broke for lunch. Our lunch-guy is funny. I think he's Italian and he's very relaxed and talks to everyone. So there's a queue all the time, but I don't mind - I'd rather get my meal with a smile a bit slowly than with great hurry and a frown.

After lunch we didn't have any lessons, but the tour. I took way too many pictures again, I'll put only part of them here.

I just adore these alleys.

The tour ended at the Eagle - reputedly the most famous pub of the town. We'll be going there for dinner tomorrow. It was really nice looking.
