First day in Cambridge

So, I arrived at nine o'clock in the evening. My host mum was all ready for bed and the girl had already gone to bed. My room was the smallest bedroom, but very cosy and the whole house smells nice. (Even if that sounds weird, it makes me feel at home.)

Here's my room in the evening and the view next morning:

I'm in Harry Potter -land! XD
It really looks like Privet Drive, here.

Okay, so this morning my host mum gave me (and Elina and Riina) a lift to the bus stop where we met the others and went to school. It was a wonderful ride; on the second story of a double-decker. Nice view and everything.

On the school we first had our level tests and after a short break we had a walking tour of the town. It's surprising how small Cambridge really is. Some shots taken on the way:

 The barber shop above was so nice, I just had to snap a shot of it. ^^;
Look at the bloody architecture! Why can't we have some more of this in Finland?
Lovely little alleys and narrow roads.
 Who says England isn't green?!
We'll go punting with these next week. Hope it's not raining. *knocks on wood*
Wow... there are no people here.
One of the colleges, I think. Can't remember which, though. Isn't the blue bush lovely?
We'll be going there tomorrow. King's College Chapel. Can't wait.

So after that tour we had lunch and then got free time. I borrowed Sense and Sensibility from the school's Learning Centre - a kind of library and then Laura and I took off to a little adventure.
We really had no idea where we were going, we just wanted to see the lovely houses.
 And that we did.

Look at that plant! It's enormous!

The pedestrian light is at shoulder height here. It was weird.

And the traffic's crazy, by the way. XD
Really I don't know how the cyclists dare ride like that! It's horrid to watch. And people don't really care about the traffic lights and the cars drive - imo - crazy!
XD

It's also wicked hot here, so I had to buy myself a pair of shorts, just in case. The jeans I had on today were way too much, I was boiling all day.

Anyway, I've had fun already, but I'm very tired now, so I think I'll go to bed early.

  1. Wau, mitä kuvia. Ihanat paikat ja upea sää. Shortsien osto ei ole huono idea, vaikka ehkä ohuet caprit voisi olla kivempi. Ne ei nouse ylöspäin kävellessä :)

    Haleja. Äippä.
    Isältä terkkuja.
